This seems to have been asked 1000x... However, I have yet to find a solution.

I need to tunr off or remove my wifi touch button from my dv8t. I have spent the last month searching, removing, reinstalling, and skrewing with this laptop to get it off. nothing works. At the moment, my wifi turns itself on and off 28 time a minute on average.

I have already installed the keyboard driver that doesnt have the hp QLB on it. I have also removed the quick launch button drivers.... im at a loss now.

    someone help!!!

if you are under warranty, send it in - that is definitely not normal

makesure you delete the driver in device manager (when uninstalling them, there is a checkbox that says delete driver) if you don't vista/7 will reinstall them just as soon as it detects them. I second sending the unit in for service though. But knowing HP they will probably want to do a BIOS update and a full OS reinstall first.

just ask them to let you keep your hard drives (they never say no) because you have sensitive data, and then take them out before you send it in (and make a note on the service slip in the box)

Yep, that is what I did when I had a problem a couple of years ago. No issue from HP but the rep on the phone did give some minor flack. Nevertheless I ask him to note the HD absence on the ticket he was writing and the reason. I also attached a note to the bottom of my laptop indicating that the HD was removed due to sensitive data. Since the laptop had a problem turning on, the repair center could care less.

thanks. I'll try that. I will have to wait a couple of months till I can part with my laptop for a week or two. Just wish there was a way to stop the buttons from working without sending the unit in for a fix.
