Hello everyone! I'm a newbie here.
Just got a new HP tx1000 laptop from Costco and it's been neat, but it runs really hot. The area where the hard drive is, it's very hot to the touch. I've switched it out with the same model and it's still the same.
Is there a good explanation on why this is?
Any help is appreciated!

Hard drives get hot. Depending on the cooling/ventilation of your hard drive area it may not be preventable. Just a poor design. I would check out the cooling guide as well as try to get a physical read on the temperature of the disk. If it's really annoying, you may need to return.

if it used a TL-60 its going to be hot, but not so hot you can't put it on your lap. The fans do a great job of getting the heat out.

That is normal, You can buy a laptop cooling pad to keep the temp down a bit -
Yes, mine runs quite hot as well, much hotter than my L2000, which I believe had cooling issues!
I am thinking about undervolting it a bit to try and cool it down before it cooks itself.
As for the cooling pad, it is not bad, but impractical for a tablet type PC. -

The HD temperature is independent of the CPU temperature... mostly.
Some HD brands/models run hotter than others. Which one you get is luck of the draw. You can see which one you have in Device Manager.
