    I just bought myself a brand new nc8430 t7200 core2duo laptop.
As i did with my former laptop - Thinpad r51 - I wanted to format the drive, did my own partitions and clean install winXP.
Didn't work, cause there is no SATA driver in xp install CD, so I'll have to go with nlite option, doing my own winxp CD and putting drivers in it ...

Anyway, is there any HP installation software where after clean install the software connects on the internet and installs all the latest drivers (like Thinkpad thinvantage installer does) or do I have to do it manually all the way...?

Also is there any HP software for power management, because now the fan is always on even if I'm not doing anything...

    thanks for help people ;)

Well there is, but it depends whether your notebook comes with the driver recovery disk, so far i have not seen the nc series bundled with that.

You can try two things, first make sure the fan holes is not cloged by dust you may want to take out the keyboard if you really want to make sure

Second thing, boot to the BIOS and disable "fan always on while on AC Adapater" which is by right disabled by default.
