Anyway, HP seems to use nVidia 9600M GTs in the vast majority of their notebooks that you can customize. From what I've read, this GPU is available with DDR2 and DDR3 memory... so how do I know which one HP uses? They don't say, unless I missed it.
Does anyone know?

I believe it's the ddr2
-
If you're referring to the dv5t, it uses DDR2, as Harper said above.
Linky -
Its definitely DDR2, u can also chk it with GPU-Z 0.2.8
-
Here this is my GPU-Z screen. My laptop is the one in my sig.
-
Sadly DDR2. I was trying to play Crysis Warhead and boy was it sluggish.
-
has anyone been able to get ntune to work. I tried with 175.53 which resulted on a hard lock bringing up the nvidia control panel.
-
how sluggish is it? is it unbearable or something or are you exaggerating? because this seems like great graphics card.
-
It can run Crysis at med settings with 30~ FPS
-
can run crysis with mid/high settings at 45~ FPS
-
Jeremy14... I beg to differ.
Chaz tested Crysis and this is his chart for it: http://www.notebookreview.com/picture.asp?f=35729
Clearly it can only run up to med settings to have good enough FPS to play. -
well i got 45~ fps can't hellp it, but it's not on max settings.. not even close to it on medium just changed the screen res. higher...
-
Probably not the first crysis, but im sure u can get mid/high on warhead really easily.
-
Well for some reason Ntune wont work on the dv5t just yet, it has sumthing to do with the v62.94.1a.0.18 GPU BIOS.
I have been trying to figure out a solution for this prb for almost a week now, no joy yet, lets hope for the best. -
k i downloaded the demo on my dv9500t. it works, but just a bit slowly. probably because i have stock drivers and i didnt really play with the settings.
-
warhead brings my sli 8800gts setup to a crawl in the snow levels, because of all the particals (snow). crysis will play at medium setting. turn physics off.
-
There's a guide on the gaming section I think that'll help you get the best out of the game.
-
wow thats almost unbelievable.
-
DDR3 isn't really that much better. Just more gimmic to throw into your GPU that can't even use all of it's memory anyways.
HP uses nVidia 9600M GTs... a question
