Just configured a R3000z and a ZV5000z with the same specs for each,
    R was 1024.00 Z was 1123.00.

So what exactly is the diff... ports and plugs or what?

How many hours of use can I get out of the XPM 3000 chip?

These systems are the exact same. All the parts are the same other then the speaker and case. Every part and spec is the same, even where the ports are is the same. Make your choice on what you like for looks, price, and the HP version is suppose to have slightly better speakers but both computer have great speakers! The compaq has JBL Pro's. At different confiurations the 2 will switch back and forth on what cost more. Personally for looks and price I went with the compaq and have no problems.

Ok thanks, however what about support, Does support tend to be better for one vs the other or are they the same.

Both brands are owned by HP so it is the same. That is why all the parts are the same. So far myself I'm not upset with the support. Its nothing to get excited about either, I'd stay away from phone support when possible and go for the e-mail support.

I first bought a r3000z as it was less money. When I returned it, I bought a zv5000z as it was less money and everyone said how much better the speakers were. I can not tell that much difference. I too would go with the one that cost the least for the same specs.

For me, the HP zt3000 looked better, the speakers sounded better (for a notebook), but I was comparing it to a Toshiba M30 at the time. I also briefly looked at the Compaq x1000 (HP's Compaq twin) pricewise and it was a little cheaper (about $50) than the HP. However, I did not like the looks of the Compaq. HP just seemed the better choice for me at the time.

Yeah, I know they are now one company. But I just refer to the different brands as HP and Compaq. HP is so much shorter to say and type than Pavilion.[ :)]

May I ask why you returned the "R" for the "ZV"

Actually you are comparing Compaqs to pavillions. Not compaq to HP. HP makes both Compaqs and Pavillions.

but, for further posts about these models, I'd refer to their real names. Compaq and Pavillion. Better to be correct, then confuse people. You could just type HPP or HPC. just as fast :)

It never says HP Compaq, it always says Compaq Presario. Where did you see the term HP Compaq?

I did not know that, as I have no intrest in the business notebooks that HP makes. I will now know that when someone says HP Compaq that they are talking about a business notebook. Thanks

WTF? The Compaq Presario's are not buisness only notebooks. On the HPshopping website they have both pavillions and compaq presario's under both home/home office and buisness. the R3000 series is the Compaq home/home office line. I'm looking at buying one in a couple month's and believe me i don't buy anything unless I have done ALL of my research.

Anyways, I was just wondering: what exactly is the difference between the X1000 and the nx7010? I know the coloring is a wee bit different (i believe the latter is darker). But I couldn't notice any other difference? May it be that HP is planning to substitute the nx7010 with the X1000 (the X1000 are relatively new compared to the nx7010, right?). Plus i don't get the fact that the X1000 is a pc for "home" whereas the nx7010 is rather for "business". To me, they are the same.

    Quesoyyo,

Yeah, you have access to their Business support if you own their Business products. I think you get slightly better service than the Consumer support lines.

Here's a couple support phone numbers:

HP Business Computing and Storage Products Support
    1-800-HP-INVENT
    1-800-474-6836

Compaq Commercial, Enterprise or Business Products, and Former "Digital" Products Support
    1-800-OK-COMPAQ
    1-800-652-6672

It should also apply to Spain. The best thing to do is call the 800#'s above first. If that's just for the US & Canada, I have a link below that have the support #'s in Spain.

That's what i was wondering, they just have a common hotline in spain for tech support for all products, no matter whether business or home...(according to that webpage)
    but thanks a lot anyways.

I think it may be similar to the 1-800-OK-COMPAQ number. That will give you the option for Business or Consumer products. When you select Business, it sends you to a different group/call center. If you accidently go to the Consumer line, they'll transfer you once they find out the model you have. Could that be how Spain's call center is setup?

I think we are all dousing this issue with gasoline and lighting it on fire. I think the point we are all alluding to is that HP has oversaturated its own markets. In effect, it is competing against itself in almost every key market. The only real exception is the business market with the nx and nc series, where it seems that HP has a much more focused thought process-and where the company has had the most success.

In the home and small business segment, however, any computer that is branded HP can also be found as a Compaq. Confusing and not a good long term plan, in my opinion.

Thanks god I haven't had any serious problems with my nx so that I had to call up HP, so I don't know about HP support in Spain. But I guess I'll have to check it out anyways sometime...
