Intel is ahead of the game right now with their mobile line. I would opt for one of those. As for the graphics cards, you won't really notice a big difference in the 256/512mb version of the 7600, but you will notice a HUGE difference with the 7900GS. It is one of the fastest cards on the market, and is twice as powerful as the 7600. It will play Oblivion almost all of the way turned up. Build quality and style, the HP wins, but if you are going to be leaving it on your desk most of the time, then there is no comparison for the price/performance ratio of the e1705.

The 7900GS is one of the best mobile graphics card out there on the market, losing only to the 7900GTX and, of course, the SLI ones. The 7600, no matter how much memory it has, doesnt stand a chance.

Intel is by far superior in both laptops and desktops, so do not consider AMD at the moment.

Beware that although the Dell is much better in price to performance ratio, the HP has better quality. If you arent going to use the power of the 7900GS, I say go with the HP.

The 7900GS is probably the best balance of performance vs. power consumption out there right now. Whether it's worth putting up with Dell... hmm, tough call. If you do get the 7600 don't waste your money on the 512MB version.

Intel has the edge over AMD right now (AMD's 65nm transition hasn't happened yet) but it's important to compare performance at a given price point. I trust AMD much more than Intel. The GPU is more important than the CPU for gaming so feel free to dodge the Centrino marketing tax by buying AMD.
