Last month, I purchased a DV9000 series HP laptop from CompUSA. I have the receipt, it's in my name, etc.

The laptop was sold as "refurbished", but, in fact, it was simply a customer return in open box. I checked on the HP website, and the laptop is still under warranty (for about another month).

The laptop has a problem (wireless doesn't work), so I want to get it repaired.

My question is: Can one get HP warranty service locally (I'm in the Boston area), or do you have to ship it back to HP? If the answer is the latter, do you have to pay for shipping? What proof of purchase do they require (I have the packing slip/receipt, as well as the on-line receipt).

    Thanks.

Call HP support. They will tell you what to do.

Agree, call HP. Might only be a driver problem.

Most likely if its an hardware issue you wil have to ship it back to HP. If the notebook is under warranty they will pay for shipping both ways. The only proof I have been ever asked when I contacted HP was the serial number, that should be all you need.
