Can You tell me in which manner I can prevent the tedious whine tipical of several HP notebooks ?

I have an hp 6510b and the current BIOS don't let me to disable the C4 mode (That seems to be the cause of the whine).

I've installed RMCLOCK but for the moment the problem is not resolved...

It's not properly whine but a whistle or a hiss, the same that distress the pavillion serie:

Hi, i listened to the youtube clip and thats some irritating whine or coilbuzz. I don't have that noise on my 6510b.

    - have you tried to update the bios?
    - install the system defaults settings softpaq? (if there is one for xp)
    - tried vista?

If it sounds like on the youtube clip and nothing fixes it i would definitively contact HP about a warranty repair.

I'd say, if you still have warranty, try to get your notebook exchanged.

I have the impression that the "rumor" is present only when the lappy is running on battery ?
    May be ?
