I just replaced the backlight inverter on my sister's Omnibook XE3 GC and before giving it back to her I thought I would check HP's site to see if there were any updates I should install for her. Looks like HP no longer has the support & troubleshooting and software & driver download pages for their older computers, although they did up 'til about a week or so ago when I downloaded and reinstalled the modem driver for my ancient Armada 1700.

As a test I just tried searching for download files for my other oldies (Omnibook 900, Omnibook XE3 GF). It seems that the files are still available for download, they're just harder to find.

I hope this is temporary and HP isn't going to delete these files altogether, but just in case, if you've got any old computers you're still using, this might be a good time to make sure you've got all the latest drivers from HP.

    You don't need HP.

Just browse the manufacturer websites for all your drivers. Those are more reliable than HP and more likely to have drivers for older components.
