    Bought a Dv6z-7000 recently:
    a10-4600m
    amd hd 7730m 2gb
    6gb RAM
    1920x1080p hd screen
    750gb 7200rpm hdd
    backlit keyboard

I didn't like the issues I was having with the switchable graphics and the failure for some games to even recognize that I have a 7730m present in my system which low and behold forced me to use the 7660g built in the a10 processor for a couple titles.

Explained to HP that this was a defective product and I would like it exchanged for a Dv6t-7000 with:
    i5-3210m
    GeForce 650m 2gb GDDR5
    notice the 2 large upgrades
    6gb RAM
    1920x1080p hd screen
    750gb 7200rpm hdd
    backlit keyboard

After a total of 14 different operators, 3 of which had me on hold for over 45 mins a piece, 7 of which tried to upgrade me to an i7 or blu-ray player to charge me an extra $200 dollars, I fought my way to a lovely case manager. Marie.

Every single supervisor I spoke to, said it could not and WOULD NOT be done, what I was asking for was a huge upgrade and I would need ot pay at LEAST 200-400 dollars extra.

    I fought.

I fought because had I known the AMD laptop would have given me so much trouble I would have taken my money to the Intel variant or hell, lenovo.

Just received a call today that my Laptop will go into production free of charge once the Dv6 is dropped off at fedex and they receive the notification from the tracking number.

    Free processor upgrade
    Free GFX card upgrade
    Free 1920x1080p screen upgrade
    Free 2-day shipping

    Satisfaction.

This all game at the price of about 18 hours of actual phone time with me and them head to head on whos going to be replacing returning what.

    Now.....

    I wait. :p

Glad it worked out for you, but that'd be a deal-breaker for me.

honestly after the first few hours I was over it and wanted a refund, but then my stuborness kicked in, and it pushed me to the point of, well i was already on the phone for this long might as well go all the way and get what I want haha.

the 18 hours was over a 2 week span not in one sitting though haha.

If they made me stay on the phone that long I'd have them build me a new one and let me keep this one.

Honestly it should not have taken 18 hours. HP is the worst of all time and they should have just stuck with their original plan and removed themselves from the personal computer business.

It's not whether or not it's all in one sitting. Even if it's spread over a week, time is money. Those 18 hours? If you'd spent them working a minimum wage job, you could have earned $180ish during that time. If you're a professional, the monetary value of that time could easily be $400-$500ish.
