My neighbor asked me to take a look at his zd7000. When we power it on, the screen turns on, but it stays black and displays nothing. If the laptop is hooked up to an external monitor it shows the graphics no problem on the external screen and still nothing on the LCD.

I took the the LCD apart and checked the ribbon cable to make sure it had a secure connection. That did not solve the issue.

My other idea is that the inverter is gone bad.

Do you guys think it is the inverter? Has anyone else had a similar issue?

    Thanks

Point a flashlight to the LCD. If there is a very faint picture the panel is okay and the problem is the inverter or backlight, if there is no picture at all the panel is broken.
