i upgraded my zd8000 from Windows Media Center (groan) to XP pro. NOW, i am experiencing crackly, static-y audio. i CANNOT locate a driver for this that will fix it.

Has anyone else experienced this? HOW can i fix it?

Did you make a backup copy of the SWsetup folder located on the Hard Drive?
That will contain all the drivers that is necessary for your notebook.

If you cant get it, i think u can contact HP and order a recovery disc set. It cantains a stand alone CD with all the required drivers for the notebook.

(Reason for saying this is because i got my HD replaced and i requested a recovery disc set free and i got the Media Centre DVD with not bloatware, a CD containing all the required drivers, even for accessories i dont have and the HP QuickPlay CD).

    Thanks for your reply!

i DID burn a recovery CD, however i do not wish to go back to Media Center.

i uninstalled the audio drivers, then popped in the Recovery CD, and waited for Windows to find the driver from the disk ... but, i think it couldn't find it because the CD is filled with HUNDREDS of .cab files ... i can't locate a driver on that disk ANYWHERE.

i tried the chat program to get support, after FIVE failed attempts, i was told that my problem is most likely hardware failure. BEAUTIFUL. i am out of my warranty by less than 30 days.

    Typical.
