    HI,
my hp zt1170 display is gone black. The laptop works and displays properly when connected to an external monitor. But the LCD is gone black although it displays a very faint gost image (barely noticeable); I read reviews about other people having the same problem. I can't find threads about how to repair it.
Could you give me some info about it or point me to threads or forums about the problem?
    Thanks

    Kent

Sounds like the backlight could be out. You're going to need to send it in for repair.
