I'm planning to buy this laptop. Can somebody tell how this
laptop will be in terms performance. (I play 3D games once in
    a while)
Also, are there any other vendors who offer the same processor
AMD64 3700+ (emachines is one, but their web site does not show
    3700+)

It'll be great on everything except 3D games. The top-of-the-line CPU can't make up for the 3-year-old GPU. For getting work done, you can't beat it. HP should have new notebooks out soon though, the people who know precisely what they'll be aren't talking.

eMachines uses the Mobile-class Athlon 64 CPUs (62W max), which currently top out at 3400+. HP is using the DTR-class CPUs (81W max). In the HP's case you can use ClockGen to force lower core voltages, effectively making it a Low-Voltage class CPU. Full speed at 1.3V and 1.4GHz at 1V work very well for me. The current 3700+ cores are reported to do even better.

Any Idea when HP is going to release new notebooks ?
Even if they do it tom'row, don't know if they will throw in
the option of having a 7200rpm drive or a decent graphics chip.

I've found your answer my friend. What you need is a Sager 4750/ ProStar 4764. These are the absolute finest notebooks on the market.

Unless Sager has changed their displays recently, you may be dissatisfied with their displays. This was the major complain about Sager from what I know (plus some people were mentioning heat issues).

HP's LCD displays are top notch. I have WSXGA+, and it is terrific in terms of sharpness and colors. To get an idea about very bad LCDs check out latest Toshibas at Office Depot.

Dell got a 1 month exclusive on the Mobility 9800. I suspect (hope!) HP is also waiting for ATI's Athlon 64 PCI-Express chipset, due to be announced shortly for desktops and hopefully useful for notebooks as well.
