Additionally when you upgrade to an Athlon 64 there is another $100 MIR (cheapest A64 upgrade iss $25 including 50% off) Rebate, which makes it $525 - $100 for a total of $425, lots of good upgrades at the half off price as well.

Yes, these are mostly in-store offers, the rebate forms can be either found on Office Depot or HP websites, but the easier option would be to ask the OD staff to print it out for you.

There is an in-store kiosk where you build the machine. I'd recommend the 5400RPM hard drive and 12 cell battery since upgrades are half off. Most likely the reabte forms will print out with your receipt. Also make copies of everything before you send them off. For larger rebates, I personally like to send them certified mail. It costs a few bucks but then they have to sign for it and can't say they didn't get it. There are a few shady rebates companies out so cover your a**!

I got mine for around $1400 USD.
    Specs:
    AMD Athlon 64 4000+
    1 GB of RAM
    128 MB ATI X200M
    100 GB HD (4200RPM)
    15.4 inch BrightView
    b/g wireless w/ bluetooth
    12 cell lithium ion battery

Heat wise, mine does get a little bit warm, but it may be due to the processor (its a 4000+ after all). I recommend using it on a desktop, but you can use it on your lap once in a blue moon. There are two large fans on the bottom of the computer to keep the processor cool, so watch out for those if your using it on your lap. Battery wise, I don't know if you got the 8-cell or the 12-cell, but I got about 3 hours (12-cell), when word processing and surfing the internet. Watching DVD's on this latop is great, especially if you got the BrightView display, and the Altec Lasing speakers are pretty good for a laptop. I haven't burned any DVD's with my computer yet (I usually burn them on my Mac), so I don't know much about that.

    Hope this helps,
    AI

i just went to the local office depot at lunch time and order the zv6000. the saleman printed allthe rebates at the store for me but left the $100 rebate from AMD for upgrading to the A64 out. i instead there was such a rebate but he didnt believe me.

    i upgrade the A64 3200 processor and the 512MB (1x512) & the Dvd RW.

my total after taxes was $1081.01

    $30- instant rebate
    $50- printer rebate
$50- HP Configure to Order HP Notebook rebate
$100- Office depot notebook and printer rebate
$100- Office depot notebook and printer rebate
    $100- AMD A64 rebate
    ---------------------------------------
    $430 in rebate - $1081.01

    651.01 total for the notebook.

    pretty good deal

now the only problem im having is when i try to print out the AMD rebate i can not get the whole page to print out on one page is any one else having this problem. is there another link where i can print out the complete rebate page for AMD A64.

    thanks

I had the older R3000z Compaq version and used to love it. It is a little on the big side, and can get a little hot, but the laptop performs great. The only thing I wish they would do is use better video cards in these systems.

BTW: Does anyone know if they will be offering screen upgrades (from vga to svga, svga+, etc). I would like the 1600x1200 (?? not sure if this is correct exactly) screen upgrade as they used to have on the older models.

    TIA
