So I'm looking at either the HP zv6000 or the L2000.

    zv6000:
    Athlon 64 3200+ (512K L2)
    15.4" BrightView
    128MB Radeon Express 200M w/ Hypermemory
    1GB DDR RAM
    60GB 5400 RPM HDD
    DVD+R DL Burner
    WiFi/RJ-11/RJ-45
    2x 12 cell Li-Ion Battery
    $1,217.12

    L2000:
    Turion 64 ML-30 (1MB L2)
    15.4" BrightView
    ATI Radeon Express 200M
    1GB DDR RAM
    80GB 5400 RPM HDD
    DVD+R DL Burner
    WiFi/RJ-11/RJ-45
    2x 12 cell Li-Ion Battery
    $1,220.12

    -----------------------------------------------

It would be nice if I could play some games on it, maybe World of Warcraft every now and then. I also do like the look of the L2000, and the $50 donation.

What's the problem? It seems obvious to me that the L2000 is a better choice since it has all the features of the zv 6000, except it has a better CPU (turions are newer and consume less power), more L2 chace (1 M vs 512 K), and a bigger HD.

Well, the zv6000 dedicated video memory vs shared video memory. Does anyone think this would be a big issue? Considering I would have 1GB of RAM in it anyway? Also, I know that the L2000 is new, but are there reviews of somewhat similar Turion based machines?

But the L2000 uses shared memory 200m where as the ZV6000 has 128MB dedicated + hypermemory. Betweeen the 2 the ZV6000 will definately be able to play some games. But there are better options for gaming. If you need a laptop for occasional gaming then it will be OK. Take a look at the Asus Z70V..

Though it may be little costlier it will be better for gaming. The GPU is the most important aspect for that.
The ZV6000 is pretty good value for the config you selected. You'll be able to play WoW.

How about playing WoW on the L2000?

Here are the system requirements for WoW. Either model supports these MINIMUM requirements fine. Though the dedicated gpu will probably be faster. However I'm not very knowledgable about the 200 Ms since the PM system I've looked at use pci express gpus.
    Windows® System 98/ME/2000/XP OS:

    800 MHz or higher CPU
256 MB or more of RAM
32 MB 3D graphics card with hardware transform and lighting, such as GeForce 2 or better
4 GB or more of available hard drive space
    DirectX® 9.0c or above
A 56k or higher modem with an Internet connection

Either one will be able to play WoW. But the ZV6000 will have better gameplay than the L2000. If you can turn down some of the bells & whistles then the L2000 will be able to handle it well.

You always have the option to overclock the GPU too, if I'm not mistaken. I recommend you take the L2000; the benefits of it (cooler CPU, longer battery life, lighter weight) outweigh the advantages of the zv6000.

    Thanks,

I knew that both boxes met the min. requirements, but laptops have a long history of gameplay even when the hardware meets the min. and recommended requirements.
