I've been looking at the HP Verve from Best Buy for a while now. I found someone selling it on eBay for a pretty good price, "brand new and sealed in the box." I've been as suspicious of it as I can, but he's already sold four or five with good feedback, plus his feedback rating in almost 1900. All of his sold items went for hundreds of dollars, from iPods to guitars, with the buyers leaving good feedback for all of his sales. The company is listed in the BetterBusinessBureau without any complaints. I guess I'm as sure about it now as I can be.

The only issue I have is with the warranty. If I were to buy the laptop, I want to make sure that I'm covered with HP. I emailed the seller and asked him, he said it was covered by the manufacturer's warranty and he doesn't see why it wouldn't be transferable, which makes sense to me. Still, what else would I need to know / have in regards to the warranty before I make the purchase? The date of original purchase, because the year of coverage would start from that point? Would I need the original receipt? I'm assuming that he had to have gotten the laptop from Best Buy, as it's exclusive to that store.

Any help would be appreciated. Also, if reading about the sale itself you think I should watch out for anything, that'd be appreciated as well.

DON'T ASUUME!!, remember that 'ole saying. I have been around eBay about 12 years and I have gotten some great deals and gotten burned badly on some deals. How positive was the person's feedback?? Above 99.5? Above 99.0?? I wouldn't go lower than that for an item like this. Also ask if the Warranty has been activated/registered and when? Also, WHAT is the RETURN policy for the guy? 7 days, a month, a year. If it's 7 days, that sucks, not mush time to fully test it out, ship it back. When does he start the return period? When it leaves his place or when it shows you received it. If he allows returns, under what circumstances? Is it money back if you return it, or can he ship you a replacement??????? PM some friends the eBay item number and let them as questions too!!!!

Sure, send me tthe item number and I'll take a look...........

His feedback score is 1879 (1888 members left a positive, 9 left a negative), and the positive feedback is 99.5%. I'll PM you the links.

Well Steeler, I just looked at one for sale and I'd tell ya RUN TO BEST BUY!!!!

Why> This guy does not describe warranty, return policy, doesn't offer xxtra $ for shipping insurance(if it arrives broken in numerous pieces), only offers flat shipping for a Laptop(what gives).......

Only good thing, he is PayPal prefferred, so if he screws ya, you can go thru PayPal and TRY to iron out a selltement- WHILE YOUR MONEY IS TIED UP!!! If you use PayPal to pay for it, he has to send to your CONFIRMED mailing address, for it to be covered under buyer protection. It's a long process if he rips you off. What some people do, is buy 5 or 10, sell 20 and just negotiate a settlement with the others so no bad feedback is left.

REALLY, go to bestbuy, or get the guarantees in writing and keep them if you have to go through PayPal/EBay.

Hmm, that's disappointing. I guess a $250 difference from the Best Buy price was too good to be true. Thanks for your help!

you might send message to a few of the buyers, but not to the ones that each bought 2>that's a litlle odd also

who knows, it could be the deal of your lifetime. I just have a bad feeling.....

i sent him some questions about it- if it's really legit, he should post the questions/answers in his auction- just to let others know since the auction is so vague...... so far he hasn't responded....
