I've taken the plunge and ordered a R4000.

I am thinking of using my own copy of WinXPpro (along with HP drivers) instead of the factory supplied OS.

How many of you are doing just that?

    thx

HP provides a clean version of XP(reinstall XP after you get the laptop and deselet all the other preinstalled software, the drivers are contained in a separate disc), so it wont be much different than your own XP disc. Unless ofcourse you selected XPhome from HP.

thx miner...That's very good news. I ordered XPpro.

Are there hidden partitions I should delete?

Nope, unlike Sony or Dell, HP gives you the actual OS CD so they don't have any hidden partitions.
