This is why I returned my dv6qe. 720p just wasn't doing it for me when my m11x has the same resolution

Awesome. HP finally listened. Going to be returning my 720p soon.

What about the other new option? 2GB GDDR5 6770M. Is it worth it over the 1GB version? Any noticeable improvements?

I started a thread about the 1GB vs 2GB 6770M. The consensus seems to be that it's not worth it on a mid-range card. Some games will be able to take advantage of 2GB with a card that is 3-4 times more powerful, but with the 6770M, you will never reach that point.

Whats the price for the gpu upgrade?

Honestly I was looking at dv6 too but i couldn't handle the horrible resolution.

I bought a quick ship model dv7 so I can no longer return it but I will upgrade the display for sure as soon as I have the money.

Wow, so even if you purchased a DV7T for months ago you can return it and get a new one with 1080P? How long does HP give you exactly before its too late to return a notebook that's not damaged?

The ones from January got recalled. The rest of us have a 21 day return period.

Last I heard, the buyers of recalled computers have until May 30 to return them. And if you got a $500 discount back in January, they'll let you have the $500 off on top of the free blu-ray player, free 6gb ram, free 750GB hard drive, $25 6770m, and $150 instant discount.

Yup, it was because of the Sandy Bridge recall. So a lot of us who got the Sandy Bridge DV6/7's when they first came out in January had up until May 15th to return on computers for a refund or an exchange. Some of us waited until the last day to start the swapping process. I called last week...got my Case Manager two days ago. So yeah....I can swap my gen 5xxx DV6 for a new gen6xxx version with a 1080p screen.

    Thanks guys!

Of course now I am wondering if this 1080P upgrade means there might be a ENVY 17 upgrade coming soon.
