    HP Poised to Unseat IBM
    BusinessWeek

The article is for those of us who are interested not only in their HP notebooks' crunching power but also in HP as a company. It seems that the new DV series is very succesful so keep buying :). Who knows, maybe when big enough, HP will start offering powerful gaming rigs for that small percentage of people who need them.

Same here. And it wasn't looking so good a couple of months ago when all anyone was talking about was scandals on the board of directors.

Also, in the first post, they're set to unseat IBM, not IBG.

Don't make me happy! This means we won't get the good deals we've gotten the last year or so.

jade I want your 2000 series!!!!!

I love this setup but still wish they could put a GO7400 in the 2000t. The 6000 is not quite portable enough to carry, but perfect as a mainstream desktop replacement.

Thanks, and I concur. A 7400 option would definitely make the dv2000t a notebook to beat in that size. That said, my battery drains quickly enough as it is, and I like the fact that it doesn't burn my crotch if I set the notebook on my lap. If they could work out the power and heat, though, it would be awesome.

Hps newer line is so much nicer than the other computers at retail stores.

So in all of these best buy stores you see the hp next to an acer or a toshiba or a sony and the chassis is so much nicer.

Technical specs are basically the same. I cant see anyone walking out of best buy with the other retail store models. It doesnt suprise me.

especially the dv 6000 I would guess its the best selling machine in the us.

Yeah, I was quite sceptical about the new logo "the pc is personal again" but heavy advertising and most of all improved aesthetics brought success. DV6000 is number 1 in Notebookreviews home page for some time, now. Further, HP has four models in that ranking...
I really hope that HP will offer an upgrade option for the video card. 24% increase in sales can only go upwards with another enticing option. The problem, however, is that HP may have to redesign the cooling solution of its mainstream notebooks. The bad exprience with v4000t must have taught them a lesson.
