One of the main reasons I held off from getting a new laptop now. I just hope the price is right.

besides SB it would be nice if this laptop came with at least 1 USB 3.0 port a new radeon ati 6000 graphics card and a slot loading DVD.

Why a slot loading DVD? What use is that?

As a option I wouldn't mind having this to watch a movie, though I can see why some wouldn't want a DVD drive at all. I think it would be at least good to offer it this rather than than try loading kind, Though I also understand that a DVD can get stuck and that would be a problem with the slot loading type.

I agree. They could use that extra space for so much more

Aren't tray-loading drives reliable? and quiet? are mini-CD's that popular? realistically though if the only choice is a tray-loading drive and no drive I would go without a drive.

In that case you're in the wrong market: the DV7 is a desktop replacement. If you're not interested in an optical drive, buy an ultra portable.
I wouldn't even consider a new laptop without at least one superspeed port. To purchase one otherwise would virtually guarantee obsolescence right from the start.

Slot-loading trays may look sleek (and may save space) but they become a royal pain when they malfunction.

Dv7 will never feature slot load DVD as its clearly a 17' Laptop which is never aimed at mobility so no saving space or maintaining slim form factor is required, Also Slot-load drives are marginally costlier than Tray load.
