So, I'm trying to buy a display cable for HP and there seems to be a discrepancy between how HP's service manuals reports the parts and now online sellers report them. HP reports them as spare part numbers, something like 682090-001. On the other hand, online sellers report them as something like 50.4ST19.021. Does anybody know how these two naming schemes correlate?
I'm trying to upgrade the panel listed in my signature to a 1080p panel, and searching for the correct cable is a nightmare, nobody lists the cables with the spare parts naming scheme and HP's official website doesn't provide parts in their P/N numbers.

682090-001 follows HP's naming system.
50.4ST19.021 looks like something Acer/Packard Bell would use. Or a cable manufacturer. Acer also uses naming system like that in their parts.
Would this be your laptops service manual? http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03582006

first google hit on the part number: http://www.amazon.com/HP-682057-001-DISPLAY-Definition-DISCRETE/dp/B008L33D2A -
Yea, I saw that. However, I'd like to ideally avoid paying ~50$ on a video cable, when a lot of ebay sellers seem to be pricing at $10-20 for parts using the 00.0ST0000 scheme. Is there any chance you know which cables are compatible with the 682090-001 panel?

But that is not the point here.
You need a cable that is compatible with your laptop (physical dimensions) and your laptop's motherboard (connector). Only those listed in the service manual can be said as compatible and by default they are only identified by HP part numbers.
With pure luck someone might find a compatible cable from another computer system but there is no way to tell it without testing. -
Ah, thanks! It would appear 50.4ST19.021 cables look to be compatible with my motherboard and model. I'll buy one and hopefully it works!
