(Sorry if there's a thread about this already; I tried the search option but nothing came up.)

I recently ordered a customized HP laptop and while waiting for it to a arrive I've changed my mind about the laptop and want to wait a little longer until I figure out what I really want. I want to return it for a full refund. Unfortunately I didn't find out about Costco's wonderful policy until after I ordered; it would have made things a lot easier.

I know I'm unable to cancel my order because the laptop is customized, so I'll just have to wait until I finally get it. Are HP returns easy to do? Do they make you go through all the hoops? Is it fast? How do I return accidental coverage plans and support plans? Let me know of your experiences and give me some tips. I want to avoid problems!

Yes, the returns are not a problem as long as you are within the 21 day return period. Just call and tell them that you want to return the notebook. Sometimes they try to convince you to keep it or exchange. But sometimes they just give you an RMA number and you should be done in 10 minutes.

I dont know if they have a diferent return policy on warranties, but if you bought it along with the laptop, you should be able to return that along with the laptop as well.

You can actually put in a cancellation request (they may offer you another $100 off the laptop if you choose not to cancel). If the laptop still ships, you can return the whole deal, including supplemental coverage) at no cost to you (they send you a FedEx label via email).

They have been very good about returns to me. They will ask you 10 different ways what your're reason for returning it is, but it is very speedy once you get off the phone. I actually had a credit on my credit card before FedEx even indicated that the package was signed for by HP.
