The revamped Pavilion HDX is available right now at HP's website, complete with an optional 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Extreme processor, 20.1-inch WUXGA (1,920 x 1,200) display, 4GB of DDR2 RAM, a 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTS and 50% off Blu-ray drive.
All that for a very very reasonable $3500, rock on! Now bring it to UK, pretty please!! I'd even pay £2000 for that system!!!![]()

MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
The 8800M GTS sucks for newer games, though. The extra 32 pipelines in the 8800M GTX makes a huge difference in games like Crysis (the 8800M GTS can barely pull it off on High at 1280x800 resolution, the 8800M GTX can smoothly play it on all High at 1440x900 and decently on all Very High at 1280x800). I wouldn't spend that much money for a system with a 8800M GTS.

I agree, HP should allow for the option of the 8800M GTX. Perhaps they'll do it when then revamp this system for Montevina.
But, Crysis is a rare game in that it really taxes your system. All other games, to my knowledge, run fine with an 8800M GTS.
The HDX is more a multimedia machine and not dedicated gaming. It's quite versatile. The dual lamp display is said to be awesome.
I'm going to wait for the Monetvina version. The DDR3 ram, 1066ghz FSB, PCI2.0, is appealing to me. Hopefully, HP will only improve upon the HDX and not delete any of its current features. It's a rare gem of a machine. -
HP Pavilion HDX "Godzilla" is truly a "diamond in the rough" if you will. -
There's already another thread about it.

That is a BEAST...

that price is to much for my pocket but I like the system
-
Price will come down in a few months before Montevina's debut this summer.

That's HP for you though, always going with the lower model video card. The HDX is a great machine and it's primary is for multimedia, so I can see a little why they went with the 8800GTS. Also, it wasn't like they redid the entire laptop so at least they did a good job fitting the 8800GTS in their without major modifications. Hopefully though they will include the GTX in the next model.
This will probably be the next laptop I buy, as it has many features you won't find elsewhere. -
HP is very slow introducing notebooks in India and even there website doesn't give much info. All outdated info and model of notebooks are there. -
The possibility looks really grim arnold. HP service in India really sucks even though they are on top of the table as far as notebooks are concerned. They really need to do something as Dell is posing to be a real threat already! Dell offers Custom machines here in India and I think that HP too should start it off.

Although it really sucks that we can't customize our systems -
if they just add a 8800GTX into this thing...i'll be speechless. the 8800gts is still incredibly nice. only thing it won't do that well is crysis but then again nothing can so meh. if alienware m17x isn't out soon imna go ahead and order this. whoever bought this...when it comes can you please do some benches on it? thanks

I have not found any of the carrying cases for this that I like yet either. I want non-roller backpack that does not look like it was threaded together.
by the way anyone know if this will fit in the airport security plastic baskets? -
