At the US site from HP, you can find the HP Pavilions with the DX10 Nvidia graphic cards. At the HP website for Belgium, you can find Santa Rosa Pavilions but without the DX10 cards. I contacted support to ask when it will be released here, but they said they didn't have access to that information and that I should keep on checking the website for updates.

My question: have the Pavilions with the DX10 Nvidia cards been released somewhere in Europe? Or is it US only for the moment?

I contacted the UK pre sales/support and asked when the dv2500 or dv6500 will come with an HDMI output. It is possible to configure this on the US website and select the NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS Graphics Card (DX10) - once this is selected the machine comes with an HDMI port.

They have told me that this will not be an option on the 2500 or 6500 series - full stop. It seems rather disappointing that this wont be available. However I am not 100% convinced that this will be the case......

If HP isn't going to release the models with DX10 cards, I will have to go to a different brand. I really like the dv9300 specs (santa rosa), the only thing missing is a DX10 card.

I really wanted to move over to HP this time and get a dv2500 with the 8400GS but now it’s finally available in the UK, it only has the X3100. I emailed them about this pointed out the US have this option and this is the response I got:

"In response to your email, at this time I have no information as to when HP plan on releasing a dv2500 series with a dedicated graphics card. HP may release one by the end of the year, though I cannot guarantee it. I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause."

Doesn't rule out that it won't have it eventually, but they've lost my sale for sure which I can pretty much guarantee will be a Dell 1420. Really bugs me that not only do we pay more than anyone in the UK, we seem to get stuff last and quite often in a cut-down form making it even worse value for money.

It's the same all over Europe. I asked customer support in Norway, they said DV6500 would'nt come with nvidia graphics ever. Must wait for DV6600 or something.

I also contacted HP about when a dv2500t would ship in the UK with an 8400M and was simply told 'it wasn't an option'. I've waited 2 months and this is the best HP can do. Pathetic. How can a multi-billion corporation afford to not allow customers to config their laptop in europe? They can't.

I'm off to buy a Dell XPS m1330. Smaller with generally better spec.

Well, dv6500 with nVidia GeForce 8400M GS should be available in Central Europe in about 3-4 weeks...

HP UK's website now has dv2500t with nVidia aka dv2535ea BUT only with a CPU clock of 1.67GHz !!! and only 64MB dedicated on the 8400M. HP are truely mad in Europe.
