    HP(Compaq) nc8230 Memory Upgrade

    Right now there is a 512mb pc2 4200 in one of the slots. I can see there is one under the laptop(which is empty), but the one that has the stick in it already i don't know where it is located. I'm going to put 2x1gb pc2 4200 in it to equal the max of 2gb in the laptop, so it'll be a little faster for my girlfriend. Just wonder where the hidden slot is with the 512mb is?

    Most likely under the keyboard. Of course HP users probably know more. You can also look at the user manual, if HP does provide such a thing for their users.

    Yeah, there's one slot under the notebook and one under the keyboard...

    You just unscrew the keyboard screws below the notebook and you put little things on the keyboard towards you and you lift up the keyboard, it is connected so, watch out :p
