Lets pretend you are HP. Would you issue a friggin recall? Nope. It's throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

 

When I dissassembled a DV2000 I found the heatsink made an angled contact with the cpu, explaining why it wasn't moving heat fast enough and why the thing's fan would run whenever more loaded than idle. The root cause was the copper plate in the heatsink was mounted on a bump, so it wasn't sitting flush. Was relatively easy to fix with a file, but to get to it required a disassemble. Can't imagine too many likely consumers doing that in a hurry.

It's quite astonishing that such a critical aspect of the unit failed QC checking. It's like selling a car with a hole in the radiator, leading to early failyre. It means the moms and dads with no reference point likely have this thing giving them grief.

 

Heh, I've been having a heck of a time getting my dv2700se reassembled correctly. The C2D CPU overheats ridiculously easily, presumably because I'm having trouble getting the heatsink level. I had thought it was from the copper shim I installed to improve 8400GS chip cooling. I'll take a closer look at the copper plate.

This sounds very much like a Chinese lawyer spamming the boards and drumming up business for a lawsuit that they intend to file, if they get enough suckers on board.

 

It is not AD , it just a war for The Right:

Who will win the war between HP and Chinese Customers.

and All the layers are free, a Public Prosecution.

We buy the dv2000,dv3000 ,but what we got, it is just angry, burned down again and again, repair it again and again. and HP want us to pay for all the repairs.

 

Well, since you post this here with quite a lot of links to chinese pages you should at least make clear what the reason why your notebooks burnt down.
It has nothing to do with the known failure of Nvidia graphics card ? Has it ?

Is it a design flaw in Hp´s DV2000 and DV3000?
And why is it happening in China big time and not here in Europe and afaik not in the rest of the world ? Are your Dv2000 and DV3000 models different from the ones sold outside of china ?

Apart from the technical aspects i do read that Hp does make you pay for the repairs. Of course if the warranty period is over the customers will have to pay for repairs, unless you can prove that your notebooks suffer from a design flaw that would cause the notebooks to burn down.

When you post this here it would be nice to clear that up. If it is not backed up and unclear what the whole thing is about it just seems like another rant from unhappy customers.

So if you have the technical informations why your notebooks are different from the ones outside of china and thus why they are melting down please tell us.
