I just bought the Probook 4710s 5 days ago, and some times when I try to start the computer, it just wrights on the screen Non system disk or disk error, please replace and press any key... I don't have any CD or DVD in CD/DVD unit or any USB keys... when I try to scan the hard disk it reports to me No hard disk found. Every now and than it starts Windows normaly, but it keeps repeating frequently the same boot problem and not beeing able to start my comp.
Does it mean that the hard disk is bad or broken, or it will be soon...or what?!? Should I return the laptop and ask for replacement?
HELP!
Regards,
Eli

When you do manage to get into Windows, run CHKDSK.

Hi,
I tried, but nothing happens, it doesn't run...
I also tried everything written here http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN#N551 and when I ran the hard disk test and it reports back No hard drive found?!?
but when i went out from the start up, the windows started normally?!?
Don't know what to do anymore... -
When you manage to start Windows next time, copy all important files to external drive or usb.
Then contact HP (or the vendor you bought the computer) and let them replace the drive/laptop. For a product 5 days old it's not your business to worry how to fix anything, let them to do the work.
I wonder if that laptop would qualify for DOA exchange, I believe those rules differ around the world but it might be worth asking.
The bold part is the important part you need to do.
HP- Non system disk or disk error!
