Anyone else with a nw8240 not impressed with the WSXGA+ display? Mine is fairly dim (latest drivers and colors adjusted extensively) and I believe that I'm seeing what is described in this post http://www.notebookreview.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=13519&whichpage=9 by Murphyja on the nc8230. White pages are kind of dirty and maybe slightly sparkled.
I suppose that display quality is fairly subjective, and otherwise I think that the nw8240 is a great notebook. And I have to live with it because CDW will not accept an HP return.
Anyway, just wanted to find out what other nw8240 owners are seeing. Thanks.

This is the exact same LCD in my NX8220 (based on the same design). I have the exact same "problem" with my LCD. I believe it's some new protective coating that they put on the LCD's to protect against scratches. HP calls it the "Panel Protection System". Well you know what, in my years of owning an old Toshiba notebook, I have never scratched the LCD, so why would I want this type of "feature" on my LCD? I believe it actually reduces overall brightness and viewing angles. They should have just gone the Brightview route or even use the LCD's in the older NX7000 series, as they were brighter and clearer than this current "better" (and I use that word loosely) LCD.

Thanks for the reply. I could do without the protective coating, if that's the problem.
