We repartioned and formatted drive and loaded Windows XP and now when you try to play a DVD we get a message about missing video codecs but once we installed that, we got error message about display properties. Adjusted the settings there and are right back where we started? Anyone else had this issue? Solutions or suggestions?

Are you using Windows media player or other software. What codecs did you install? Windows XP does not include any DVD decoders by default and installing any DVD playing software like intervideo win DVD player, HP Quickplay should install the necessary drivers. Try playing the DVD in any other software and see if they can play it.
