Just got the DV6 today and I am having issues getting the machine to work properly with my Samsung TV.

With my ASUS laptop I am able to connect with my HDMI cable and switch the resolution to 19x10 in the catalyst control pro center.

With the new DV6 when I connect with my HDMI I cannot use the catalyst control because the machine is using the integrated Intel graphics. When I try to use intels software to change the resolution the screen is flickering and can't handle anything above 12x7, and even then I have to use scalling to get things set up properly. Not only that but the scalling is really crappy. It forces you to hit apply and see the scalling settings after instead of while you move the bar back and forth.

Anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this? Is it possible to revert to ATI graphics anytime I use an external monitor?

Is the HDMI output on the motherboard specifically for the integrated intel card? If so I guess I am up a creek.

Your drivers updated? I seem to remember xeroenvy having the same problem. I think he came to the conclusion that the 6000 series at least the HDMI is only with the IGP. Maybe the 6100 is different as the architecture is a bit different.

Whether its the IGP only or not, is irrelevant. My older NV5927U with first gen Intel HD graphics could output 1080p graphics from its HDMI port. If this laptop cant then its likely a driver issue or a setting problem.

Intel has a help page in reference to this however:
Graphics — Unable to use the native resolution

Appears it could be a driver problem, but I would try other HDMI cables as well to see if it helps.
