Just a message to everyone about an unsuccessful attempt to buy a refubished zd7001 on their website on Friday. AMEX called me to verify that the purchase was not fraud (nice that they are checking) but HP cancelled my order while it was still pending. After two days of calling the "Order Status" line, they finally realized that the credit card was OK but that the product I had ordered on Friday was now out of stock (apparently did not hold one while processing my card).

Summary...my first attempt at buying an HP ended in disappointment and they made no attempt to rectify it, even after asking if I could get a discount on a new system because of their error. I think I will check out the Dell 8600s.

But did see the systems at Costco for $100 more...really liked the wide screen on the 7000 series.

    Good luck notebook-ers!

That sucks that they didn't do anything, but they tend not to have the best knowledge in their sales or tech support staff. Luckily their notebooks tend to take care of themselves and are great for the money.

Thanks Quickster, now my question (looking at your specs)...how's that zx5000? Is the Radeon 9600 a nice card? And also, how is a 4200RPM drive? Do you see big performace lags?

The 9600 is great, and the 4200 rpm hard drive only slows down initial load up time. After that I don't notice any difference related to hard drive between this one and my 2x 80gb hard drives 7200rpm in raid config
