I have a standard docking station hooked up to 2 dell 24" LCDs running at 1900x1200 resolution.

The LCD hooked up to the DVI port works great (correct res, fonts look good, image fills the screen, etc)

However the LCD hooked up to the VGA port suffers from the fonts getting blury in some areas and the screen not being stretched out properly. Auto-adjust doesn't work and changing the refresh rate, drivers, etc have not helped.

Has anyone had this problem and found a solution?

Turns out on some other forums people are having probs with the Dell LCD over VGA, has anyone used a 1920*1200 LCD with VGA that works great with the dock?

This is typical with any LCD hooked up to the VGA port; it doesn't matter if you're on a dock or not. You will need to adjust the LCD's phase and clock settings to get things clear again. There are special test patterns out on the internet to help you adjust the phase and clock. Just google "LCD Phase pattern" or something like that.

I run dual dell 24" on my workstation which has a AGP bus, meaning no dual DVI cards. The one on the VGA always looked crappy. Finally found a dual DVI card and it's perfect now.

IMHO These displays just don't run well on analog.

It has to be that particular monitor, because the CS labs at our school have 20.1" HP widescreen monitors hooked up to the standard docking stations through VGA, and they look just fine. Granted, you have to press auto-adjust sometimes to get things to look clear, but I've had no problems otherwise running an external LCD through the VGA port on the dock.

I believe it's the Dell monitor's problem. I have the same problem on my Dell 2007WFP monitor on VGA, but do not have the issue on an HP L2045w monitor.

are you sure the dock can run 2 lcd at such resoloution ? i was undr the impression it could run one at 1900x1200 but the other would have to be crt or lcd with under 1400x900 . not 100% sure but i have no trouble running 22" lcd and 19" crt

It is the Dell monitor's problem. This is a known and widespread issue.

And yes, the docking station supports running 2 monitors, both at max resolutions, one through DVI and another through VGA. However, the laptop's monitor will be disabled. Afaik, the VGA supports up to 2 output only, whichever they are.
