    HP8530W Raid Benchmark

    I am liking my quad core 8530w quite a bit. I have 2 72k 250gb hard drives in raid 0.

    Annoyances:
    My laptop takes forever to boot. I don't know if this is because of having the hard drives in raid or not. Once it boots into vista 64bit its very fast. 4gbs of ram here.

    The web cam doesn't show up like a real camera so I can't take pictures with it or accquire with it. It does work in chat programs. This is absolutely no big deal, just a comment.

    Next Steps:
    Some crazy fast ssd drives in raid 0 =). Once the price drops.

    For the record I have had the previous gens of this laptop. nw8440/8510w and this one is by far the best.

    besides boot time your laptop sounds amazing, i havent yet tried mine. i cant let my girlfriend see ANOTHER laptop. (3 in 12months)

    what is your spec and performance like in quad core and heat or sound when gaming?

    The RAID controller needs to initialize at start up which can take a long time. It loads and checks the drives.

    Have you tried using thirdparty programs for your webcam like Dorgem?

    It doesn't get hot at all. Granted its winter an the temp in my room is 60F. The fan doesn't bother me although I may turn it off in the bios. Right now its has the "on aC, fan always on option" turned on.

    I counted more carefully and my real boot time is 10 secs hp logo + raid card initializing, 30 seconds black screen , 10 seconds windows vista screen.

    This is pretty long.

    Thanks for the tip on the software.
