    With respect to the HPDV7T Quad 17 inch:

    how do the f1..f12 keys function.
    for instance, i could run a python program by pressing the f5 key, but that doesn't work on this keyboard. I tried pressing the fn key and then the f5 key but that does not work either.

    love the computer, hate the keyboard on this computer.

    I think it is the same as my dv7-4100cto, where f1-f12 act as multi-media keys.

    Pressing fn+f5 together should work as f5 key. It also works as f5 if you press fn and immediately f5.

    If you want to default f1 - f12 to old fashioned f1 - f12, it is a bios setting. Look around, it will be obvious, something about changing fn key or f1-f12 key behavior.
