a widescreen brightview zt3000 would certainly be a nice machine for both entertainment (viewing DVDs) and getting work done.

Yes, I saw that today too. I want to see one so I can see the difference between the two (briteview vs non-briteview) on a HP zt. I did not care for Toshiba's trubrite.

Well, I went to BB tonight in search of a zt3000 with briteview. I just wanted to get a glimpse of what the hype is all about. It's not there yet. However, I did catch the zx5000's briteview. Wow!! It is a difference. I like it over the Toshiba's trubrite. I would worry about the glare because it looks so glassy. I still do not know if I would order it or not. I would wonder if it is worth an extra $50, right now. Since the non-briteview looks fine too, knowing me, I still would not have ordered it. I would have pondered it though a great while because it looked so great in the store.

(NOTE: They had it mounted in one of those base extenders (or whatever they are called) and tilted at the right angle so the store lighting would not glare from it.)

Here are pics of my brightview:

I know they can't show you everything, but gives you an idea. You will see some of the later shots show my window blinds in them...but tilting the screen takes care of any glare issues I have.

I love the brightview and I do think it was worth the cost.

I know for me, the glare issue was not existant after using the notebook for 24 hours. I just don't notice it at all, and I believe alot of it is because you can see the screen so clearly.

I use my laptop with windows in back of me, and I still don't have issues.

    Hi fishcube,

I was only referring to me when I said it was not worth the $50 right now. Since I can do without briteview (my LCD looks great too), I would have preferred the $50 on something else. For example, if I was willing to spend an extra $50 (which I was not at the time), I would have rather upgraded to have one stick of memory at 512MB instead of 2x256MB. This would have benefited me more than the briteview down the road. Even though, I do not see upgrading my memory for couple of years. (NOTE: When I ordered, 2x256 was the default and I chose to keep it that way.)

Others just may find that spending that extra $50 for the briteview is their thing. This was just my personal preference.

I understand, I was just stating that for me, it was worth the cost.
