    Hi there,

I have Compaq Presario CQ42 notebook and it usually get hanging problem while on battery power. System has 2 GB RAM with 320 GB HDD. There are not much softwares installed in system and system gets hanged/freezed even when I run Window media player or watch a movie in VLC/KM Player while power is not plugged in(that means get hanging problem on battery power). I am using Windows 7. System also don't have any graphic card.

Moreover, when system gets hanged, I just plug-in my power supply and hanging problem gets solved.

System has a standard Nihon HP battery of 10.8V (4200mAh).

Can anyone suggest some solution or reason why this problem is occuring?

    Thanx in Advance..!

looks like a battery issue to me. have you tried replacing it ?
    or changing power plans ?
have you also tried flashing your bios ? or i mean updating it ?
if the step i provided dose not fix the problem you should try doing this step.
try removing some of your RAM only if u have 2 or more
try changing your hard drive see if it will fix this issue
    try removing the wifi card
if you have anything that is hooked up in your notebook (like usb, external monitor) you should remove that as well.
last resort will be reinstalling your OS.

Im having the same problem as well though my laptop freezes even when I have it plugged but whenever I walk around the house doing simple stuff it freezes. The only solution i did was to place my pc near a fan and the fan beside the airconditioner... this is really frustrating cos it defeats the purpose of having it portable. My dvd player also acts up on its own.. sometimes it plays dvd sometimes it doesnt.. so.. Can someone suggest a remedy for this please? Thanks a lot!
