    Hi all!
I was hoping someone who had HP replace their hard drive can tell me what to say to them so they will send me a non-samsung drive to replace this stove element they've given me with my new L2000...

The tech support lady says they can only send out a samsung drive, but that doesn't seem to be the case from what I've read out here.

So, what do I have to say? ;) They also say they have no record of this problem with this hard drive. Right.

Normally, there's anything you can really say to have a specific drive sent to you. The CSR you speak to will put in a service request to have a drive shipped to the user. When it gets to the parts dept, they just grab a drive that is for that unit (can be any brand) and it gets shipped. If other drive brands are used in these units, you might get lucky and get a different brand, or you might just get the same.

The only other way I can think of where a specific model/brand drive may be shipped is if you get the problem escalated to L2 or higher. This usually doesn't happen unless it's an on-going problem and they need to see if the problem exists with a different brand/model.

I'd recommend getting a replacement drive first and see if the problem still exists, you might be lucky enough to get a different brand on the 1st try. If it still has the same problem, call them back and say it's still doing the same thing. They may want to ship you another drive as a final test. I'd say go along with it as it may resolve your problem. If it's the same brand and has the same issue, ask to have the issue escalated. This is where you might be able to request a different brand/model of drive.

    Good Luck!
