Hi guys - so I'm about to take the plunge on a dv1000t, but HP doesn't offer a 120gb hard drive in their configuration. So I figured I'd configure it with the stock 40gb, then purchase a 120gb at an online retailer. But just make sure I'd be able to reinstall everything on the new hard drive, I decided to have a chat session with HP support.
I was told that the 120gb would not handle handle the graphics well, and could actually be slower than their 100gb drive.
I gave up on the chat session. I'm amazed that a tech rep would give me that answer. If it's on a 2gz centrino duo chip, 2 gigs of ram, even with the Intel 950 graphics, I think they basically want me to purchase from HP - OR - that rep is complete yoyo.
My real concern was being able to reinstall the Quickplay 2.0 on a new hard drive, because there's nothing on their website instructing how to do this.
Can someone weigh in with their thoughts? Thanks.

Go for the 40gb and buy a 5400 rpm 120gb or the largest 7200 rpm drive you can find online. I agree with you on the tech rep. He is probably trying to get you to buy from HP. As for reinstall, should be pretty straight forward if you have the cds. Or just use norton gosht or a similar program to clone your drive.
