Well, I set the Power Options in XP to "Always On" but I don't see my CPU at it's full potential. And when I'm watching videos on youtube or playing a game, it sometimes pauses, or hiccups, and I can hear my hard drive whirl then. How can I have my CPU or hard drive not have to not fall asleep? It's annoying!![]()

You can try using Notebook Hardware Control
Google it -
Try this...
-Download "Notebook Hardware Control" (Its a free program that tells you CPU/HDD temps. and more, the more is what you would use...
-Once Dowloaded and opened, on the top bar-Click Settings.
-then go to "Show all NHC options and Settings"
-Now, go to "CPU Speed" on the top Bar
-Now you will most likely see your CPU speed at "Dynamiclly Switching", click and look at the drop down box. Click "Max Proformance" (You can do this for just AC power or Batt. or Both.)
>What this does is Overclocks your CPU and it will most likely stop "hiccuping"
------Note: Your PC may become slightly hotter and louder, if execcive, go back and change the settings back to the Default way it was found. Hope I could Help! -
Thanks. I just installed and set the hard dive to not spin down; would there be any harm in doing this? I have 2.0 GHZ, and it's showing 1.99 Ghz when I right click properties on My Computer; and on HDC it shows 1995 MHZ. Shouldn't it be 2000 mhz?

I think not having the hard drive spin down helped a lot. Is it only possible to enable/disable that with HDC? Windows doesn't have an option to not make the hard drive spindown?
Also, I can't seem to get a temperature reading for my HD. Do I have to set something in bios? -
Interesting...for the temp of HD, try using HD Tune
Hard drive or CPU hiccup?
