When these are my options (for dv6000t through Costco):
FREE Upgrade from 40GB 5400RPM to 80GB 5400RPM [included]
40GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive [$0.00]
60GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive [$0.00]
100GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive [add $48.00]
120GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive [add $92.00]
160GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive [add $162.00]
Are the 40GB and 80GB HDD's in bold not SATA? This always had me confused. If they aren't, what type are they?

They are. Otherwise they would have had to use a different motherboard just for those 2 drives which is very unlikely. The only probable reason why they dont mention it is due to space constraints in the webpage.

Upgrading the hard disk drive is a fairly simple process, which can be done by most people.

cool. thanks a lot guys!

While on some models they DO use differant motherboards, it's because of differant GPU's used (the video card) as the GPU is integrated into the model board (built-in) on 99.9999% of units being currently produced.
You can check for such, check to see what parts fit your machine here:
