I have an HP pavilion dv9000 series notebook, which has 2 x 160gb hard drives. It recently died, and as I'm going to get a new computer, I won't be fixing it. However, there are important files on the hard drive. Are there any ways(aside from paying a technician) to recovering the data?

    Thanks

If the computer died, that means the motherboard failed. But the hardrives should be perfectly intact. All you would need to do is to buy a USB harddrive enclosure, insert the drive(s) in that, and plug it into your new computer to access them.
