Hey all,
Quick question. Firefox and Chrome seem to crash occasionally if I'm trying to watch a movie in a browser and also multitasking. My GPU-Z shows that the GPU load, even when on dedicated GPU, is at no more than 5% when playing a 480p youtube vid.
Which version of ATI's drivers support GPU acceleration?
Here's my version. Please tell me if mine's too old!!

I think only Flash 10.3 onwards support proper video acceleration, updating it should be your best bet.
If you still see the same issue follow this rule of thumb: always use the latest drivers.
Nevertheless, you should have GPU Acceleration. Try loading a higher bitrate video and keep an eye on the Video Engine Load.
EDIT: Okay, that's weird. My version of GPU-Z no longer displays video engine load ... i'm not sure how to explain this. LOL -

Confirmed. Falling Skies 720p uses up about 23% of my GPU. A typical youtube vid sits at 0-4%. Clock speeds typically hit 100/150 to 450/799. Guess it wasn't my GPU after all.
Makes me think I may not be able to rely on my Envy more than another 2 years for really high-quality videos. At the rate things are changing, I may face a day when my Envy can't play higher quality videos (beyond 1080p) without lag.
