    Greetings

How does one makes a system reset on a laptop, more specifically on an HP nx8220? Is there any button or the only solution is to remove the battery?

All you have to do is press and hold the power button until it turns off. Same goes with most computers (desktops & notebooks) in the market.

    Hi

I tryed that and it doesn't works

Venombite, you also have a nx8220, have you tryed your suggestion on it?

Also, when you press and hold the power button on desktops you shut it down, you don't reset it (although it would be nice that even that worked with my laptop)

    Thanks

Sorry, I thought you wanted to powerdown the system when I read that you would pull the battery. Regarding an actual reset, no, there aren't any resets for new notebooks. It's either powered on or it's completely off.

Hitting the Power button for a while does actually power off for me. You may have to hold it for 10-15secs for it to power off.

Is there any reason why you need it to hard reset or reboot in this manner?

HP says remove all power, battery and cord and hold the power button down for 60 seconds, the system is reset.

    Robcope,

I believe Choco is looking for a way to just reset the computer without powering off, just like on a desktop. Don't think there's a way to reset the system on most new notebooks without turning it off.

A true hardware reset requires removing all power from the motherboard. By disconnecting power and battery and holding down the power button, you drain all power from the system performing a true reset.

    Robcope,

That would be a reset to the BIOS. I don't believe Choco is looking to do this (unless I'm mistaken from Choco's post). I believe Choco just wants to reboot his/her computer after a system lock just like on a desktop (has a power button and a reset button). All this does is reboots the computer by quickly/temporarily cutting power to the system which makes the system think it has just been powered on.

Choco, please elaborate if you're looking to reset the BIOS or just reboot the system.
