moving on from my previous post, i contacted HP shopping uk today.
They told me that my transition model from the one i orderd zv6065ea, will be the zv6179ea. As of yet i can't find any specs on the new machine on their website (.co.uk or .com), but there are links to it which don't have any details.

This just looks like a refresh in the config. The specs may not be available for a little while, but they should generally be the same as the current model with some slight changes.

Merged the thread since it was a follow up to your original question.

Whats the price difference between the 2. If they are in the same range, then might be a good deal. Also depends on what other options you have in the UK.

as of yet hp has not set the price for the unit so i am not too sure what if any difference there will be.

theres only a small difference in configuration, the zv6179 has a smaller hard drive of 80gb compared to the zv6065s' 100gb. The bus speed is slightly down at 2000mhz from 2200 mhz, but its runnig at only 89watts (which hope it means that its the updated processors from AMD). and the 6179 also hearlds the return of the harmon/kardon speakers.

as for options, well hp doesn't sell customisable laptop in the uk they are all preconfigured.

i know what you mean miner... its just that if i get the compaq it would be from my company, as i can get it at a discounted rate (about $80 cheaper) the retail price for the compaq is $1575. the problem now is that i still prefer the hp... so what i am hoping for is that i can persuad hp to do a deal as a goodwill gesture for not suppling me with a laptop for the last 8 weeks!!!....
