Has anyone actually gotten confirmation that the new Dv6t and Dv7 have back-lit trackpads?

I talked to an agent, and she had absolutely no clue about anything.
So anyways, anyone gotten confirmation? Was this feature only in the pre-production model?

Geez. I didn't realize that this was even a question. But you're right. It wasn't on any of those pamphlets and it's not mentioned anywhere on the site...

Just about 30 minutes ago, I went over the details of a dv6quad order with a resolutions specialist at HP. There is no option for a back-lit keyboard either on the new dv6 or dv7. There is a disclaimer in fine print of all their brochures saying that they reserve the right to change the specification. Consider it changed.

Sorry, I was thinking about back-lit keyboard. On a track pad back-lit or no back-lit makes very little difference. I didn't even think about it when I submitted the order referenced above.

You certainly could be right... but that is a pretty big bullet (point) to dodge ... not like something buried in the fine print

Yeah....this is why I'm waiting for posters to get the new 6/7's in their hands....so we can find out exactly what is and isn't included.

Huh. Didn't see that. Man, I don't want to silly, but that was like the one thing that was compensating for the lack of a backlit keyboard. If this computer doesn't even have a backlit trackpad like they promised (I really think it does, though), then maybe I do have to wait and see posts from people who've received one...

Singapore's retail does have it - a ring of led backlit around the border of the trackpad.

With the loss of backlit keyboard, does the new trackpad provide any indirect lighting to the keyboard at all?

None at all. The keyboard has matte keys with a glossy frame.

any chance you have access to see if the Envy 17 keyboard is the same form factor? It amazes me how we have seemed to move backwards from Eli Whitney's greatest contribution. Believe me, I KNOW it is by design, but it doesn't make it right.

I've never had a laptop so don't take this as fact but I think the screen would provide some lighting for the keyboard especially if you turn up the brightness.

Well, on my old Dell that didn't have a backlit keyboard, sometimes I'd have to bend the screen toward me just to light up the keyboard...backlit keyboards sure are nice.
