How much of a difference is there between the 17" WXGA+ BrightView and Ultra BrightView screens? Is there any difference in quality between the two WXGA+ screens and the WSXGA+ screen?

ultra brightview basically adds an extra lamp for the screen which makes it more brighter/colorful. some say it is too bright and of course the extra lamp reduces battery life. the WSXGA+ screen has a higher resolution ~1650 compared to 1440 x 900, good for photoshoping, graphic design but not as good for games.

so you are in dubai eh? i didnt think you could customize the HP to the screen you want? I bought my dv9000t in dubai in december and it was a preconfigured model

I love my ultra brightview on my dv9500t. my father's dv9000t only has the normal brightview, and when watchin high def images and gaming, its absolutely amazing.

I might be ordering the laptop from the US site and getting it shipped here. www.aramex.com lets me have a US shipping address where I order from US sites and get it shipped to that address, then Aramex forwards that package here to Dubai for extreamly cheap rates. I can get that laptop shipped here for about $35.

In addition, it also weighs a bit more than the standard Brightview screen due to the second lamp. You might also want to consider that.

Kain yeah i use that service too BUT how are you going to pay for it? you need a US credit card to pay for it and they dont accept international cards. also you will be charged customs tax of 5%.

also some companies know that the address is aramex and they know the service so they refuse to ship there because they know it is being sent overseas.

What? They are against letting it being shipped overseas yet don't have a problem with me buying it in the US and taking it with me back here?

    Does www.newegg.com require a US-based credit card?

if you are in the US and buy it with a US credit card then you have no problems i think but they MIGHT have a problem with you sending it via aramex IF they know what the aramex address is for.

and yes many have tried using international cards with hp and have failed, it needs a US based one.

and yes those two links appear to be the same laptop

Yup Ive used amazon many times, but are you sure you cant find this laptop in the UAE for the same price? cuz it will end up costing you $2000 for a 15" laptop when you can get the dv9500t for $2000 here (in Dubai) i think

The 8510w is in a whole different league than the dv9500t even thought it has a smaller screen. It has the 570M which is equal to the 8600M GT with GDDR3.

ok so have you calculated how much it would cost to ship to your aramex address in NY then to Dubai and the taxes involved as well? i think it would come out to the same price as a Asus G1s or G2s which have the 8600mGT and are catered to gaming

From NY to Dubai it's around $35. I'll have to pay the regular US tax and that's it. No tax from Dubai's end.

Um how is that? no tax from dubais end? you have to pay tax on everything that is over 1000dhs, thats what I and many others have paid for items from there including from amazon.

plus $35? its $8 for the first 1/2 kilo then 5.5 for every 1/2 after that so did you determine its $35 by the weight of the laptop? bear in mind the boxing and all other stuff adds weight so expect to pay more/
