Have you new DV6 owners found you have no Portrait mode??

I recently took delivery on a couple of DV6's; neither of which offers portrait mode--something I have never seen missing from a modern-day PC running Windows. What else is HP going to remove in the way of functionality? First they take away Portrait mode screen orientation, and now they take away our control of graphics switching. I'd rather have a simpler setup for graphics card, anyway--just give me the Radeon 6770m and forget that ridiculous Intel nonsense.

I don't understand what you mean by this. You can switch to the 6770M and uncheck the box to ask about switching when on battery.

To be quite honest I completely forgot that you could run the OS in portrait mode, and my first version of Windows was 3.1! I think the reason our laptops' monitors don't support this feature is simply because they cannot rotate to accommodate the feature, like some desktop monitors can.

Of course as a consumer it is your right to use your product as you wish, but I am a bit curious as to why you want to run portrait mode on these screens?

It's a shame to hear you got a defective unit. Though I know this is probably little consolation, there's a chance that these issues with the dynamic switching will be worked out in a new HP driver update by the time your new unit is built.

Why would you want portrait mode? Stand the laptop on it's side? This thing isn't a tablet you know...

Honestly, why would you need this? Why would HP give this as an option? Seems weird

I have my laptops hooked up to external monitors, both of which are mounted to wall mounts. One of them swivels so that I can set it to portrait mode. We have 2 netbooks, and 3 laptops in the house, including another HP and they all (like EVERY computer I've had for about the last 14 years) can switch orientation to portrait mode. These DV6's are the first computers I've encountered that can't do portrait and that is not a good thing.
