Hi,
I just bought the HP dv1049cl from Costco (it's very similar to the dv1040us, but with a slightly slower processor). I'm having a slight problem with it, and I wondered if anyone knows how to fix it or if it's just typical with HP notebooks.
Here's the problem: when I have the computer on battery, the computer makes a loud buzzing sound whenever I move the cursor using the touchpad. It's really quite loud and I'm considering returning the computer because of it, which is a cummer because I really like the computer otherwise.
I'd really appreciate any suggestions/input if you have any. Thanks!

Oh no, I can't believe I wrote 'cummer' where I meant to say 'bummer' in my post. Sorry!

I have the exact same problem. For me the sound goes away if I turn wireless on. I spoke with HP support last night and they seem to indicate that it might be related to some battery issue. The sound also goes away if you connect an external mouse and then use the touchpad. I am waiting for HP support to call me back with a solution, otherwise the notebook is going back.

I think that models now have been cured of that problem, and you are not alone with that problem acadanna.
