Having problems with 11.7 and 11.7b !!!

I updated my graphics card to 11.7 and also tried 11.7b and both graphics card give me TERRIBLE FLICKERING Issues when playing games like Prince of Persia (2008) and DarkSiders. So i have to Roll back to 5/24/11 driver.

Is anyone having similar issues? And is there a fix?

When i mean TERRIBLE FLICKERING, i really mean there is alot of stuttering and double imaging making it look SO BAD.

 

Someone else said they had flickering issues...not sure if it was you. I use 11.7 and it's fine but I only play one game. Although for 11.7 and 11.7b Ive not read that people have been experiencing flickering on forums like Guru3D. Maybe it's specific to our setups or maybe just yours. I'm not sure so hopefully others who have experienced this problem can help you.

 

I even tried driver sweeper, but i get the same problem. But i read on this message board that others have it working fine? What am i doing wrong !!!!!!

 

Have you tried it on other games? Do you have Vantage and 3DMark11? If you do, run both and see if you get the same issue. That will test to see if it is having problems with Direct X 10 and 11. If they are fine I would say the game you are playing is not playing nice with these drivers.

 

Counter Strike Source plays fine, but Prince of Persia and Darksiders do not.

EDIT: I tested more games, SSFIV Arcade Edition seems to work fine on 11.7 but Dungeon Siege III does not (same TERRIBLE FLICKERING and double imaging problem), thus came to the conclusion is that some games do not work on 11.7

So im going to stick with 11.5b for right now. If some one else has the games that i have problems with, please try with 11.7 and/or 11.7b to see if it is just my laptop. Thank You

 

I don't think AMD has even released a 11.7 driver. Do you mean 11.6 and 11.6b?

 

The 11.7 is a beta driver. 11.7b is labeled as 11.6b but its 11.7 driver. Check in CCC if you install the 11.7b driver.

 

maybe it's vsync or triple buffering?

 

primeboss - are you sure it's not related to DX11? Compare DX9-10 games with DX11. I experienced flickering issues when I was playing DX11. I had to do a system restore to fix it , and now that I have upgraded to 11.7b, I have had no issues.

 

How do i know if Darksiders, Prince of Persia, or Dungeon Siege III is using Directx 11 or not?

primeboss - I just tried witcher 2, and experienced flickering on 11.7b as well.

when I say flickering...i mean it looks like there are really bad full screen artifacts, and seems like there are two different screens struggling to take over. it was unplayable.

I have reverted back to 11.5

 

Ok thank you, the Terrible Flickering i was saying is exactly as you described it. So its not just me.

 

Strange, If youre experiencing the flickering in Prince of Persia I doubt its just a DirectX 11 problem. That game is older and shouldnt really be using DirectX 11 unless they have patched it somehow.

I'll put a warning on my sticky for the 11.7b drivers then. Will try to find the 11.5b driver download link too to repost.

 

Crysis 2 and Civ 5 worked fine for me on 11.7b. Only Witcher 2 had the flickering issues. I'm curious why that is.

so...why are you rolling back to 11.5b instead of 11.6?

 

Idk, actually. But i always found 11.5b reliable for me and i do not believe 11.6 brings much changes. Unless i am wrong then please correct me.

 

primeboss - did you try any other games, or do all your games have the same issue?

I'm going to give 11.7 a shot, then 11.6, and lastly 11.5b.

jiggawhat - do you know if it'll cause any issues for me if I have been doing system restore instead of uninstalling the drivers and cleaning with driver sweeper? Basically, I create a restore point before upgrading my video drivers. If it doesn't perform as expected, I do a system restore. But I'm curious if this leaves any driver remnants that can cause issue in the future.

 

I don't know, but I never do system restores because it's overkill for problems

I'd just uninstall the normal way

Works: CSS, SSFIV
Does NOT Work: Darksiders, Prince of Persia (2008), and Dungeon Siege III

I went back to 11.5b so i have not tested other games.
